We came to Santa Fe on Tuesday to meet Brad's friend Laura (and her friend Sally) who came down from Vermont to see the opera. Brad wanted me to meet Laura, so we decided to do a quick trip this week. We left Denver at 8 a.m. Tuesday after saying good-bye to our house guests, Steve and Dana from NYC. They left to fly back to New York at the same time we left to drive down here. They got home before we arrived at our destination, since it took us 593 hours to get here. (Or so it seemed.) I don't like driving, so it was painful except when I was sleeping and then it was just uncomfortable.
We're staying in a cute little motel that we found reviewed in the New York Times a few months ago and, while not posh by any standards, it's clean, cheap and walking distance to the Plaza, where all the action is. We've had fabulous meals, went gallery shopping (and found a couple of pieces we really want) and have hiked in the mountains, taken naps and just visited with Laura and Sally. It's been quite nice. We go to the opera tonight -- neither one of us are opera buffs -- but it should be an enjoyable outing. Here's our "casita" at the Santa Fe Motel...
