Sisteron

Our hotel is right in the center of town -- think Brown Palace, except about 500 years older. Apparently Napoleon stopped here for lunch on his return to France from being exiled on Elba. I suspect he would have settled here -- it's beautiful and interesting -- but he may have decided to look for a town where they have window screens and shower curtains. Too bad for him -- even with those two deficiencies we've put Sisteron on our "short list" of towns we may move to for a year...
