Far left: two feet in front of me is a bush that I thought was growing out of ground. Turns out it was growing out of the side of a cliff. Left: the cliff I almost fell off...I had a near-death experience today, literally. If three people hadn’t grabbed me as my feet slipped out from underneath me I would have slipped down the face of a sheer cliff -- probably 500 feet. It truly is amazing that these folks had such quick reflexes -- particularly since they’d been pedaling all day in 90+ degree heat. But they did, and I’m alive, none worse for wear.
Tonight’s hotel is even better than the last hotel, which I would compare favorably to the Broadmoor. Tonight’s is “Chateau Form” just outside the village Faverges de la Tour and it has been converted from an old French mansion. It’s quite lovely, with an Olympic (unheated) size swimming pool, golf course, etc. Our bedroom suite is in the tower. For more info (in addition the photos herein) go to: http://www.chateauform.com/
Glad you didn't die FIL! We like having you around!
